Nestled in the picturesque village of Meursault, Burgundy, Domaine Jean Javillier stands as a treasured secret, adored by a select group of connoisseurs and insiders. Founded back in 1933 by Jacques Javillier, the estate's legacy has been gracefully carried forward by his son, Jean, and his wife, Christiane. A trailblazer ahead of its time, the Javillier family embraced organic farming in 1972, blazing a path for sustainable viticulture in the region. Four years later, their dedication was officially recognized with the prestigious "Nature et Progrès" certification, affirming their unwavering commitment to organic practices.

With an impressive total of 7.5 hectares (4 hectares of red, 3 hectares of white, and 0.5 hectares of Aligoté), Domaine Jean Javillier produces wines with an exceptional price-to-enjoyment ratio in all of Burgundy. Unusually, both their whites and reds offer outstanding quality.

The vineyards are cultivated using organic methods, avoiding chemical products and relying on natural treatments against vine diseases. The yields are intentionally low, and the fermentation process is kept short, resulting in round and ripe wines with well-balanced tannins and a juicy acidity.

With minimal intervention during winemaking, the wines are matured in old oak barrels for 12-14 months. Only minimal sulfur is used, and filtration is limited to exceptional circumstances. The estate's commitment to environmentally friendly practices and natural winemaking makes Domaine Jean Javillier a must-try for any Burgundy enthusiast.
